Level 1 Writing Process

Learn and use the five-step process.

GATHER: First, collect as much material as you can to create the piece you are writing. Use these methods. 

research, interview, observe senses, remember what you know. 

SORT: Pick the most intersesting part of your matieral. If your piece includes a person, decide what that person wants and how they might or might not get it. 

ORGANIZE: Order the information in a way that makes sense to your reader.

WRITE: Finally, now that you have gathered, sorted and organized, you are finally ready to write.

REWRITE: Learn how to rework your writing to make it more interesting so that people will want to read it when you are done.

If you will plan before you write, even if it seems foreign to you, then your work will be organized and you will be able to reduce the amount of time you spend writing and rewriting.
